What lies ahead for Class 10 Students owing to the cancellation of Board Exam
As the COVID-19 situation started worsening, the Central Board of Secondary Education declared postponement of the Class 12 Board exam and cancelled the Class 10 Board exam. Understanding the need of the hour, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has also planned to cancel the ICSE class 10 exam and deferred class 12 exams.
Earlier this year, however, it was decided that the ICSE Class 10 exams will be held between May 5 and June 7, and those of Class 12 were to be held between May 5 and June 16.
Admission Criteria for Class 11th
As with ICSE Class 10 Admission cancellation, parents are quite concerned about the Class 11 admissions.
The notification by CISCE reads: “All CISCE affiliated schools (having the ISC section) are hereby advised to begin the admission process for Class XI, if not started already.” It has also been declared that now the schools should also begin scheduling online classes for class 11 session as soon as possible. ISC 2023 syllabus will be followed for the same.
This notice mentioned above was undersigned by the council’s chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon.
With no formal notice on Class 11th admission criteria from CBSE board, schools are going to promote students on provisional basis and aptitude test. The same shall be confirmed post declaration of Class 10th results.
With reference to state boards, most are yet to declare the admission criterion for class 11th admissions and some have begun with their admission applications.
Class 10 CBSE Results
This year, the Class 10 results of CBSE will be calculated based on the objective criterion that the Board will prepare. In case, a candidate doesn’t find his result to be satisfactory, then he/she will be provided with a chance to take an exam when the conditions are favorable.
Similarly, CISCE too has decided to follow a ‘fair and unbiased criterion’ for calculating the results of Class 10. The result date would be declared later.
Needless to say, these measures have been taken in order to ensure safety on the face of COVID-19 surge in India.
